Successful validation of the MMC platform measuring PMP and defense routines was completed.  

Ground breaking, the correlation between defensive routines, PMP and stress is statistically significant! 

In a recently published Master Thesis “Defense routines and their origins” the MMC assessment test platform showed a direct connection between an individual’s defensive routines and a low PMP values. Furthermore, individuals’ with increased defensive routines also showed higher the average stress levels within their respective departments and throughout the organizational as a whole. Naturally, the qualitative data obtained during the interviews substantiated the claim that defensive routines caused by low PMP values inhibited the individual’s negotiation of participation. While most of this thesis has its focus on studying the effects of high defensive routines, in relation to PMP and stress, it is important to note that low defensive routines show high PMP values and low stress.   

The MMC assessment tests were instrumental in effectively locating deviations, means, peaks and troughs which are normally hidden below the surface, and which in most cases can take many counseling sessions to find. The test platform offered by Modern Management Consulting saved time and money in quickly providing the data necessary in understanding the mechanisms behind the negotiation of participation.  The aim with the study was to gain insight into the explanatory factors behind employee’s negotiation of participation and also to explain how tension in one´s personal environment can affect one´s defense posture.  In reviewing this study we can conclude that it has provided a deeper insight of the connections between Defensive routines and PMP.  Stress, which was the independent variable, showed an obvious link to tensions within the PMP environment thereby causing defensive routines to emerge. Naturally, other issues in regard leadership, communication, stimulation, and competency development all factors that can affect participation. However, the position remains the same, low PMP values will cause Defensive routines to inhibit an individual’s negotiation to participate while at the same time increasing stress.

As the evidence has shown, we believe that the MMC platform is a modern framework that can be used to track an individual’s, a department’s, a division’s, and an organization’s well-being and that it is a model that can support Human Resource Managers, Department Managers, Consultants and even Medical Physicians with their diagnosis and/or efforts in putting context into the situational environment. New and Improved Motivation Assessment Test

A new and improved motivation test has been introduced. The new test is also on a 400 point system and suffices to confirm movements in both the stress and defense mechanisms assessment tests. March 20, 2009

PMP Assessment Test

Finally a new and improved PMP (perpetual motivation positioning) assessment test is in full use by our consultants. The new test covers all of the seven PMP variables and plots individual position. Excellent tool for managers when coaching their team members.  March 10, 2009  

Rexam PallPack

The redesign of the workflow and process assignements with the department prooved to be winning formular. In the last 18 months the participation and motivation levels have increased despite elimination of 1 of 6 persons from each of the six teams. The reassignment of duties, process and working routines produced a saving of more than 20,000,000 Swedish Kronor through efficacious and diligent work over the last 18 months. The results are improving month after month. A job well done for SuperSorter area and the quality department. March 01,2009 

Lund MarkEntreprenad

Rexam

Cross-Training is currently in full swing at Rexam, Sweden. Rexam is one of the world's leading consumer packaging groups and the world's leading beverage can maker. They serve large markets including the beverage, personal care, healthcare and food industries.

Our collaboration of 15 months has made positive impact. The team-building sessions were successful and we are in the middle of the Pall-pack training phase. Employee participation and motivation are increasing across the board and we are very content with the progress. The training phase will last for three months and by the end of the summer the Pall pack area will have new, well-functioning, rotating teams.  March 11, 2008 

Mera Rexam Nyheter

Den som mår bra gör ofta ett bättre jobb. Med den ledstjärnan har ett nytt projekt satt igång vid PallPack. Syftet är att öka medarbetarnas kompetens, minska risken för arbetsskador och ge ny inspiration.   Projektet omfattar ett 40-tal personer och körde igång med en kick-off i december. – Målet är att alla ska lära sig fler arbetsuppgifter. Till exempel ska de som arbetar på PallPack även lära sig att utföra burkkontroller och sköta bandning. Fördelarna är flera, menar konsulten Clive Michelsen som håller i projektet som kallas för Cross-Training.

– Företaget kan bygga mer flexibla arbetsgrupper och för den enskilde innebär det en minskad risk för förslitningsskador då de fysiska rörelserna blir mer omväxlande med nya arbetsuppgifter. Dessutom innebär det också en mental förnyelse, något som är extra viktigt efter många år på samma plats. Första steget är individuella samtal där medarbetarna får göra personlighetstester, bedöma sin kunskapsnivå och sitt välmående. – Jag vill påpeka att alla information är konfidentiell och stannar hos oss. Syftet är att kunna jämföra hur medarbetarna mår före och efter projektet. Våra erfarenheter är att vi kan få upp till 80 procent av deltagarna att må betydligt bättre än förut, hävdar Clive Michelsen. Det tjänar alla på. För mår man bättre, blir man mer kreativ och gör ett bättre jobb.Den praktiska utbildningen sker på PallPack i den takt medarbetarna önskar. Och de som utbildats inom ett område, blir utbildare och får i sin tur utbilda sina kolleger. En del av utbildningen handlar om gruppdynamik, alltså hur medarbetarna kommunicerar med varandra och hur villig man är att hjälpa någon annan.

– Då har vi träffat arbetsgruppen i en lokal utanför arbetsplatsen för att se hur de arbetar tillsammans för att lösa en bestämd uppgift. Vi noterar bland annat vem som är drivande, vem som har idéer och vem som utför jobbet. Bara genom att bli medveten om hur man själv fungerar tillsammans med andra kan man förändra sitt beteende.

Målsättningen är förstås att det ska vara självklart för alla att ta ansvar för sitt arbete och hjälpa till om en kollega har problem.

Malmö City Council 

Rosengård City Council (Vård & Omsorg) was positively overwhelmed to the Cross-Training seminar held for their department heads. Many eyebrows were raised at the prospect of improving employee motivation and flexibility. Stefan, one of the department heads said, “we definitely need help in improving our flexibility and competency development on the floor…this seems to be a heaven in disguise.”
